Silcoorie residents up in arms against bar
SILCHAR, Dec 27: Residents of Silcoorie camp, 20 km from here, today imposed a blockade on the road, which connects Silchar with Assam University and Hailakandi, demanding immediate closure of a bar-Wasil Bar- located in the area, which according to them is contaminating the overall ambience of their locality. However, the blockade was withdrawn because of the intervention of Additional Deputy Commissioner Debasish Chakraborty, who assured the agitated residents that the wine shop will be shifted from the area within seven days and till it gets shifted the bar will remain closed.
