Barak erosion posing threat to Cachar

SILCHAR, Dec 24: Hundreds of bighas of Agricultural land and large areas of human settlements are being continuously washed away due to erosion of river Barak across Cachar. Despite people’s outcry and representations to the authorities concerned, no action plan has been initiated for protective measures. In fact, this is not a new phenomenon. But, it is assuming alarming proportion as pointed out in a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar by a delegation of CPI(M) here today.
