Bridges on NH44 in distressing state
Daiyan Hussain, general secretary, Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, expressed his concern at the plying of overloaded vehicles on the two important bridges- Valley Bridge at Malidhar and Gamon Bridge at Katigorah, along NH 44, which connect Barak Valley with the State capital. Though overloading by a vehicle is considered a crime and punishable under the specific provisions of traffic rules, it is not unusual to come across passenger vehicles plying with overloaded passengers nonchalantly.
