Cross-section of people cry for stringent law against rapists

SILCHAR, Dec 24: Citizens from all walks of life of the town took out a candle light march here this evening in protest against the gang rape of a 23 year old girl on a bus in New Delhi. After moving through the main thoroughfares of the town, the rally assembled before the office of the Deputy Commissioner where the citizens staged a protest demonstration, condemning the incident, and shouted slogans against the government.
The citizens later submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India, demanding exemplary punishment of the culprits who were involved in the heinous crime.
