Sylhet Utsav-2013 held
SILCHAR, Jan 15: Two day long Sylhet Utsav-2013 organized by the All India Federation of Sreehatta Sammelani, an organization of the people of Sylhet origin, concluded yesterday in the premises of Jodhpur Park Boys’ School, South Kolkata. It was also the occasion to hold the 8th annual conference of the Sammilani.
Abul Mal Abdul Mohit, Finance Minister, Government of Bangladesh, graced the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the Utsav on last Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled the rich cultural heritage of Sylhet and said that the people of Sylhet had contributed a lot for the country during the time of Indian independence. Remembering the great leaders of Sylhet origin, he opined that many scholars and intellectuals were born in Sylhet town. He also underlined the importance of regular get together and interactions among the people with Sylhet root.
