With corruption as poll-plank, BJP to go all hog in panchayat elections
SILCHAR, Jan 5: Bharatiya Janata Party will contest all the seats of ZP members, GP presidents, AP members and GP members in the ensuing panchayat elections, scheduled to be held on February 12 in Cachar district. In the district, there are 27 ZPC constituencies, 163 GP presidents, 163 AP members, and 1630 GP members.
While talking to this scribe, Kaushik Rai, President of BJP, Cachar, said that “unlike last panchayat polls, this time the party will contest all the seats in the district.” Presently, BJP has 6 ZP members, 34 GP presidents and 33 AP presidents in the district. He at the same time was confident that the saffron brigade would get thumping majority in the forthcoming polls as the people of villages in particular had been fed up with the “corrupt” Congress rule.
