KVIC exhibition to showcase exquisite products

SILCHAR, Dec 11: A month-long national level exhibition-2012 from February 23 to March 24, 2013 organized by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under its marketing programme for north-east region will be held on Town Club ground here. With extensive populace and strategic location, Silchar is the feeder point for states like Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura and the adjoining Bangladesh. It has a widespread perspective marketing, besides export potential.
National level exhibition is expected to play a pivotal role for display and sale of exquisite products of khadi institutions as well as the rural employment guarantee programme and prime minister employment guarantee programme units under the aegis of micro small and medium enterprises through KVIC.
Inaugural ceremony of the national level exhibition is expected to be graced by Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, as chief guest. Considering the magnitude of the national level exhibition in the socio-economic upliftment of people, it has been decided to make it as attractive as possible. It will be the first of its kind in the remotest zone of the country. Besides prime minister, other dignitaries will be invited to attend the exhibition.
All aspects of the organizational level preparedness have been taken into consideration, besides discussing relevant matters to make the exhibition a grand success. The exhibition implementation committee in its meeting held today here has deliberated over the method and manner to ensure maximum participation of the units and their products. The help and cooperation of various NGOs, clubs, cultural bodies and mediapersons have been sought to make the event memorable.
Officers of Nehru Yuva Kendras of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi were also present.
In order to add more grace and beauty to the exhibition, cultural programmes to be presented by various cultural bodies of north-east will be presented.
Those present at the meeting included Sharif Uz-Zaman Laskar, chairman, KVIC, north-east zone, KK Gupta, deputy chief executive officer, KVIC, north-east zone, PC Das, director, state office, KVIC, Guwahati and other officers of KVIC.
