Renowned journalist Amitavo Choudhury felicitated

SILCHAR, Dec 11: Cachar wing of Barak Upotyoka Bongo Sahitya o Sanskritik Sammelan felicitated the eminent writer, poet and journalist, Amitavo Choudhury, at a function held at Bongo Bhavan here today. Choudhury, born in Silchar, was associated with different reputed media outlets like Jugantar, Ananda Bazar Patrika, Desh. He is also known for composition of rhymes.
Amalendu Bhattacharjee, former head of the department of Bengali, Gurucharan College, said that the eminent writer has a vast knowledge over Rabindranath Tagore and his writings. He further pointed out that Choudhury had a remarkable contribution in the Language Movement of 1961 in Barak Valley with his writings in several media outlets. “He has written scores of articles during the language movement in Barak Valley as a result the movement then became a national event,” he added.
Choudhury, recipient of Padmabushan by Government of India, said that he feels happy to be introduced as the son of Silchar. He expressed his gratitude to the organizer for felicitating him.
