Barak Valley International Expo begins
SILCHAR, Dec 29: The 4th Barak Valley International Expo began here at Town Club ground last evening. The fair was jointly inaugurated by Abida Islam, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh, and Kabindra Purkaystha, MP, Silchar. The business men from different Countries have set up their stalls to sell their array of goods.
While speaking at the inaugural function, Abida Islam said that Barak Valley is the gateway for the expansion of trade and business in Asia. She dwelt on the similarities that the people of Bangladesh and Barak Valley have in common. She also recalled the sacrifices done by the people of both Bangaldesh and Barak Valley for their mother tongue, Bengali. In his speech, Kabindra Purkayastha, said that Barak Valley has always maintained good relationship with Bangladesh. He said that the bond between the two Countries will also get strengthened by participating together in the fair. Around 26 stalls from Bangladesh have been opened in the fair.
Among others present on the occasion included Omar Faroque, first Secretary (commercial), office of the high commissioner, Kolkata, Bijoy Krishna Nath, proprietor of Dainik Jugashankha Group, and Taimur Raja Chowdhury, editor, Dainik Samyaik Prasanga.
