Threat to boycott panchayat polls over Harang bridge issue
SILCHAR, Jan 10: The residents of Sonapur and Bhangarpar areas under Borkhola constituency will boycott the ensuing panchayat polls if the dilapidated 1/3 Harang bridge is not immediately repaired. Hundreds of people of different organizations of the areas under the aegis of ‘Greater Sonapur-Bhangarpar Unayan Sangram Committee’ today staged a protest demonstration in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, demanding immediate improvement of the decrepit Harang Bridge, which is the only life line for the thousands of people under five different GP constituencies. The agitated residents with placards and posters shouted slogans against the apathy of the government and PWD towards them.
