City pays homage to Swami Vivekananda
SILCHAR, Jan 12: The 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated here across the district in a befitting manner. In the morning, a colourful procession was taken out by Silchar Ramkrishna Mission in which thousands of people from all walks of life including members of different organizations, teachers and students of schools and colleges and common people participated. After moving through the main thoroughfares of the town, the rally assembled in the premises of Silchar Ramkrishna Mission. Imitating Swami Vivekananda’s attire, a total of 150 children donned saffron robes and turbans and participated in the procession which added colour to the rally.
