Contractors agitate over lack of forest produces
SILCHAR, Dec 15: Contractors affiliated to ‘Cachar District Contractors’ Association’, PWD (R) wing, today held a sit-in demonstration in front of the office of the Executive Engineer, Abdul Haque, expressing their serious concern at the incomplete packages of civil constructions across the district due to non availability of forest produce, particularly boulders. After staging protest demonstration, the Association submitted a memorandum to the Executive Engineer, PWD Roads, pointing out that all the civil construction works including roads have come to a standstill during this peak season. In the process, they are incurring losses with their man and machine power being lying idle. Besides, they have also to bear day to day recurring expenditure.
