ABYSA lays siege of DFO, protesting against "illegal quarrying"
SILCHAR, Dec 21: Members and supporters of All Barak Youth Students’ Association (ABYSA) today laid siege of the district forest office in protest against the on going “illegal quarrying of stones” at different quarries in Barak Valley. They alleged that despite the ban by the Supreme Court of India, illegal quarrying is going on unabated in Barak Valley and the Department of Forest has been maintaining an intriguing silence.
In the absence of the District Forest Officer and the Conservator of Forest, the members of ABYSA met the Assistant Conservator of Forest, B Sinha, and sought clarification on the illegal quarrying which is going on at different quarries under the department of forest
